BLOCK REAL ESTATE
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 September 2026
Who we are. Block Advisory Group, trading as Block Real Estate (“Block”, “we”, “us”, “our”), is the data controller of the personal information described in this policy. Our office is Upper Hill Gardens, Suite D15, Upper Hill, Nairobi, Kenya (P.O. Box 29724 – 00100 Nairobi). You can reach us at [email protected].
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you contact us — including through our website at block.ke, our Google and social media advertisements and lead forms, WhatsApp, phone, and email — how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Data Protection Act, 2019.
1. The information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact details — your name, phone number, email address, and (where you provide it) your preferred area or postal location.
- Enquiry details — the property type, budget range, number of bedrooms, buying timeline, whether you are buying from within Kenya or abroad, and any message you send us.
- Transaction details — where you proceed with a viewing or purchase, information needed to progress the transaction, which may include identification and proof-of-funds documentation collected separately and securely.
- Technical & usage data — IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you reached our site, collected through cookies and analytics.
2. How we collect your information
We collect information that you give us directly through our website forms, Google and social media lead forms, WhatsApp, phone calls and email. We also collect technical data automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you use our website, and we may receive limited information from advertising platforms (such as Google) when you respond to one of our ads.
3. How and why we use your information
We use your personal information to respond to your enquiry, share matching listings, arrange and confirm viewings, progress a transaction you have asked us to help with, provide customer service, and — where you have agreed — send you relevant property updates. Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Your consent — for example, when you submit a lead form or opt in to marketing.
- Performance of a transaction or steps you request — to act on your property enquiry or instruction.
- Our legitimate interests — to operate, improve and secure our services, provided these do not override your rights.
- Legal obligations — where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.
4. Marketing communications
If you have consented, we may send you property listings, market updates and offers by email, SMS or WhatsApp. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link, replying STOP, or contacting us at [[email protected]]. We will stop sending marketing promptly on request; we may still contact you about an enquiry or transaction you have active with us.
5. When we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed:
- Property owners and developers — where necessary to progress a viewing or offer on a specific property you are interested in.
- Service providers — such as our CRM, hosting, analytics and advertising partners (including Google), who process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
- Professional advisers and authorities — such as lawyers, valuers or regulators, where required to complete a transaction or comply with the law.
6. Cookies, analytics & advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads tags, to understand how visitors use the site and to measure and improve our advertising. These tools may set cookies and collect usage data. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where shown, through our cookie banner. For more on how Google uses data, see Google’s own privacy resources.
7. International data transfers
Some of our service providers (for example, Google and our CRM) may process your information on servers outside Kenya. Where information is transferred outside Kenya, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards consistent with the Data Protection Act, 2019.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy — typically for the duration of our dealings with you and a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting and legitimate business needs — after which it is securely deleted or anonymised. Lead data captured through advertising platforms is exported to our systems promptly and is not left on those platforms longer than necessary.
9. How we protect your information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including access controls, secure systems and staff confidentiality — to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to address any incident in line with our legal obligations.
10. Your rights under the Data Protection Act, 2019
Subject to the Act, you have the right to:
- be informed of how your personal data is used;
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to delete your data, or restrict or object to its processing;
- request portability of data you provided to us; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
We will respond to valid requests within the timeframes set by law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
11. How to contact us
To exercise any of your rights, or if you have questions about this policy, contact our [Data Protection Officer / privacy team] at [email protected], or by post to Block Real Estate, Upper Hill Gardens, Suite D15, Upper Hill, P.O. Box 29724 – 00100 Nairobi, Kenya.
12. Complaints
We hope to resolve any concern you raise with us directly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), Kenya’s supervisory authority, via its official channels at odpc.go.ke.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on block.ke, with the “Last updated” date at the top reflecting the most recent change.
